The first draft of the human cell atlas will not include every organ. Instead, data will be incorporated from a selection of major tissues and systems, including the immune system, to achieve two main goals: The immune cell atlas (ICA)1 aims to identify the molecular and phenotypic signatures and the spatial organization of all immune cell types that populate human lymphoid and non-lymphoid tissues at baseline, and after many different challenges to the immune system.
