The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly passed a measure aimed at combating and investigating hate crimes during the pandemic, particularly those targeting Asian Americans, in a rare instance of bipartisan goodwill. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, said Thursday ahead of the vote that the measure was "proof that when the Senate is given an opportunity to work, the Senate can work to solve important issues."
