CDC Director: Agencies Discussing Upgrading Threat Level of Variant Spreading in New York
THE DIRECTOR OF THE Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday said that the coronavirus variant circulating in New York looks to be more transmissible and that agencies are discussing whether it should be upgraded from a "variant of interest" to a "variant of concern."CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said that early data suggests the variant, which has also been found in New Jersey, is not quite as transmissible as the variant first found in the U.K.
