Kolkata: After transplant, 13-year-old becomes youngest heart recipient in east India

KOLKATA: A 13-year-old boy from Odisha underwent a successful heart transplant surgery at a Howrah hospital on Tuesday. He became the youngest such patient in eastern India. This was also the second pediatric heart transplant in Bengal. The transplant was possible after the family of Basudeb Das Adhikari agreed to donate his organs after the 21-year-old Sabong resident was declared brain dead in the city.
