Maharashtra on Sunday added more than 4,000 fresh Covid-19 cases, the first time in 39 days that the daily tally has topped 4,000, amid signs of another surge in India’s worst-hit state. Weekly cases and deaths in India registered a minor decline. Maharashtra reported 4,092 new cases on Sunday, the highest single-day count since 4,382 were recorded on January 6, which was also the last time the count had exceeded 4,000 in the state.
